We currently hold workshops on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at The Fledge -1300 Eureka St, Lansing, MI 48912. Each workshop is on a different topic each week or follow a specific them and costs $10 per person.

COST

Our mission is to provide affordable and efficient capacity building trainings to grassroots organizations, nonprofits, and startup business. We hold training seminars for staff and volunteers.

One-hour Training Rate: $10  per person
Three-hour Training Rate: $20 per person

Workshop Descriptions

Hiring 101

Our hiring workshops help our clients develop and strengthen our clients hiring practices by introducing a number of online hiring tools, helping them draft a template for outreach and communications, find resources on hiring practices, and practicing how to hold interviews and knowing which questions to ask prospective employees and volunteers.

Nonprofit Human Resources 101

Our nonprofit human resources workshops help our clients understand the basic concepts and methods in human resource management, including strategic planning, tracking staff/volunteer movements, policy and planning, and develop a HR-to-do list around their organizational goals. 2-Hour sessions includes a job structure and a draft of the hierarchical structure and methods to measure performance.

Nonprofit Marketing  101

Our nonprofit marketing workshops help our clients develop a marketing strategy that best meets their short and long term goals. Whether it’s sales or fundraising, our workshop will help you build a portfolio, find avenues for free and affordable advertising, and create a template with their logo design.

Fundraising 101

Our fundraising 101 workshops help participants develop the foundational knowledge in individual giving, foundation grants, corporate sponsorship, earned income, and online and peer-to-peer campaigns. We provide you with the resources that you need to get started and begin to outline donors and map funding to impact strategies.

Fundraising 102

Our fundraising 102 workshops builds off the foundational knowledge gained in our fundraising 101 course. We explore several online platforms that will help you further develop and map funding to impact strategies, manage donor relations and grant applications, and receive donations.

Strategic Planning 101

Our Strategic Planning 101 workshops help participants develop strategic management skills to get from Point A to Point B more effectively and learn how to document these processes so that others can work from their strategic frameworks. Participants will be able to conduct a SWOT Analysis to determine organizational readiness and develop a team and schedule for an upcoming event or campaign.

Strategic Planning 102

Our Strategic Planning 102 workshops help participants develop strategic management skills to get from Point A to Point B more effectively and learn how to document these processes so that others can work from their strategic frameworks. Participants will understand how a SWOT analysis informs the planning process, be able to use the OT Strategic Planning Template, and begin to develop a framework for proposal writing.

Grant Writing 101

Our Grant Writing 101 workshops prepare participants for the grant application process and understand the difference between project, capacity, operating fund, research, and in-kind grants. Participants will understand how and where to search for grants and begin using the OT Grant Management Database templates so that they may begin to the outreach process.

Grant Writing 102

Our Grant Writing 102 workshops help to prepare participants for the grant application process by developing a letter of inquiry template for their organization.  Participants will work towards drafting an official letter of inquiry and further develop a workflow for managing and tracking grants through using the OT Grant Management Database templates.

Grant Writing 103

Our Grant Writing 103 workshops further prepare participants for the grant application process by developing a generic and grant specific proposal format. Participants will begin to draft a proposal around a specific campaign or long-term goal to be submitted to a foundation or other donor.

Grant Writing 104

Our Grant Writing 104 workshops help participants develop a draft of budget and monitoring and evaluation plan for their proposal. Participants will learn how to use the OT Budget Manager and Invoice Templates as well as begin strategies in monitoring and evaluation that are tailored to their organizational needs.

OT-Starters Workshop

Our OT-Starters Workshop is a specialized course in how to start and successfully manage an organization. Whether it’s a nonprofit or small business, it’s important that founders understand how to create a strong foundation that will withstand rapid growth and the tests of time. In this workshop, our instructors go over the various types of organizational structures, general tax information, where to find assistance for registration, how to draft bylaws, organizational management content, use Google Drive as a coordination tool, set up MailChimp, and social media, including Buffer.

OT-Logo Design and Branding 101

Our Logo Design and Branding 101 workshop focuses on logo and brand creation. Our consultants go over your logo design, reviews standard branding practices, color theory, and provides instruction on how to best maintain branding procedures across your organization. Our 101 section focuses specifically on logo design, color theory, and standard branding practices. 

OT-Logo Design and Branding 102

Our consultants go over your logo design, reviews standard branding practices, color theory, and provides instruction on how to best maintain branding procedures across your organization. Our 102 section focuses specifically on creating standard branding procedures and going over the template for a branding guidebook for your organization.
